We all know that driving under the influence of alcohol can have devastating consequences. Impaired driving can cause injury to oneself as well as others on the road, and if you are convicted of drunk driving in Florida, stiff penalties can be enforced and you may even lose your license.
Large campaigns such as the one enforced by the Florida Highway Patrol from December 16 to January 2, called "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" often sees massive amounts of arrests and citations for driving under the influence. Sometimes police officers don't always properly conduct arrests and pull over people who haven't violated any laws. Law enforcement that doesn't follow proper procedure may be violating the rights of citizens.
The campaign that recently ended, lead to around 500 arrests for DUI and 36,000 citations throughout Florida. With this massive number of arrests, it is likely that some people may have been wrongly or improperly cited.
When they fail to properly enforce laws, police may use evidence to convict you of a crime even if that evidence was unfairly obtained. A conviction of a DUI can have negative consequences on a person's reputation and maybe even their career. If the person requires his or her license for work, even a charge of DUI might have adverse effects on their job, even before they are able to prove their innocence.
If you are ever pulled over and accused of driving under the influence, it would be wise to consult with and experienced DUI attorney.
