I have 17 years of experience as a criminal defense lawyer, focused only on criminal defense, only in Pinellas County, Florida. I was awarded the Victor O. Wehle Trial Advocacy Award in law school and I am First Chair Death Penalty Qualified to handle death penalty cases. As a Marine and a combat veteran, I know how to stand tough for my clients, and I have compassion for my clients. I believe that all people are basically good, even if they have made a mistake. I have been married for 16 years and am the father of three wonderful sons. I met my wife in law school and we tried our first criminal case together. Not guilty in State v. Bowdry!
We make our home in St. Petersburg where I have been active in the community. I served as President of the Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood Association where I spearheaded the effort to save Sunken Gardens. For that I was awarded the Jon and Hilary Clarke Award by St. Petersburg Preservation and the Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association. I have also served on the Board of Directors of the St. Petersburg Museum of History. I have coached T-ball at the Northeast Little League for the past four years.
I tried my first trial in October of 1993 and have tried hundreds since. On the walls of my office hang the jury verdict forms of some of my more memorable verdict including a murder not guilty in State v. Acquin. Trying cases is what I enjoy most and I have had great success at it.
The philosophy of my practice is to represent my clients the way I would want to be represented if I were in their situation. I am the only attorney in my office, so when you hire me you won't get handed off to a less experienced associate. I will personally be with you through all your legal proceeding.
